WHAT TO EXPECT
Are you ready for an adventure!? Hit all the must-see spots along the Great Ocean Road and discover some of Australia's most beautiful areas. This trip will take you from Adelaide to Melbourne and show you all the highlights in between.
Day 1 - Adelaide Hills, Halls Gap, Grampians National Park, the Balconies (Pickups from Adelaide City 6:45 am)
Escape the hustle and bustle of the city and start your adventure with a drive through the scenic Adelaide Hills towards Halls Gap. This is your first stop, situated in the heart of the Grampians National Park.
After a bite to eat, take in the wonders of the area and get up close to the local wildlife, such as kangaroos, wallabies, cockatoos and kookaburras.
Next, you will wander through rocky tracks and dense forests towards the Balconies – a stunning geological formation that offers panoramic views of Victoria Valley and the surrounding mountain ranges. The walk is moderately smooth and takes up to one hour.
Around dusk, make sure to look out for more wildlife. You'll spend tonight in dormitory style accommodation nearby, surrounded by the towering cliff-peaked valley.
Day 2 - The Pinnacle, Brambuk Cultural Centre, Tower Hill Reserve, Great Ocean Road (various attractions, including the Twelve Apostles)
Today, you'll hike 2 hours to the Pinnacle, the very best vantage point in the Grampians National Park. Enjoy terrific views over a vast expanse of Western Victoria here, a welcome reward after the hike!
You will then visit the Brambuk Cultural Centre and learn about local Aboriginal history, before departing the national park. The Great Ocean Road beckons!
On your way out, stop for lunch at the Tower Hill Reserve, a stunning location home to a dormant volcano, wetlands, a lake and an abundance of wildlife.
As you head towards the Great Ocean Road, take the time to stop at several extraordinary rock formations including the Bay of Martyrs, London Bridge and Loch Ard Gorge. All found along the famed Shipwreck Coast, these spots are great for a photo opportunity and quick stretch. The star of the show, however, is the Twelve Apostles, a stunning collection of limestone stacks rising dramatically from the Southern Ocean. They are best appreciated at sunset from the easily accessible boardwalk.
At an extra cost, you will also have the opportunity to view this famed landmark aboard a scenic helicopter ride.
Spend tonight in dormitory-style accommodation on the Great Ocean Road.
Day 3 - Great Otway National Park, Apollo Bay & Lorne, Bells Beach & Torquay, Kennett River Koalas.
Your final day commences with a leisurely 1-hour walk through the Great Otway National Park – an area that boasts some of Australia’s best rainforest scenery. You will then be driven along some of the most impressive coastal roads where sections have been carved out of the cliffs by servicemen returning after World War 1.
In the warmer months, take a dip in the ocean at Apollo Bay, or explore the quaint beachside village of Lorne. Watch surfers in action at some of the country’s best surf beaches including Bells Beach and Torquay, which are also home to the popular surf brand outlets Rip Curl and Quicksilver.
Before heading through Geelong to the big city, you will stop at Kennett River Koalas to get your cuddly koala fix and watch them in the wild.
You'll arrive in Melbourne at approximately 7 pm.
