Learn how to scuba dive in Byron Bay!
WHAT TO EXPECT
Always wanted to try scuba diving but don’t have the time to complete your certification? Now's the time! Experience the beauty of the underwater world for the first time at one of Australia’s top 10 diving sites – Julian Rocks! This course requires no previous experience and allows you to have a feel for what it’s like to breathe underwater. Taking only 5 hours to complete this course can easily fit into any holiday.
All courses are conducted by experienced dive professionals who will teach you the basic concepts of diving and train you in the basic, necessary skills for you to be comfortable on your first ocean dive. All confined water training is conducted at the dive shop, an instructor training facility, located in the heart of Byron Bay. Here, the tour has a fully equipped classroom and a training pool heated to 25 degrees Celsius.
Once comfortable in the heated onsite pool, you will depart to Julian Rocks where you will dive under the direct supervision of your instructor, up to 12m depth. All open water-training dives are boat dives conducted at Julian Rocks Marine Reserve. Here you will swim with tropical species such as turtles and manta rays, as well as many interesting southern ocean animals including friendly blue gropers and wobbegongs. All this only a five-minute boat ride fromByron Bay!
During your dive, you are likely to encounter one of our 3 resident species of turtles, several fish species, and maybe even some friendly rays. This course is a great trial before completing your Open Water Course. Intro Diver Courses start at 6:30 am, 9.30 am, and 12.30 pm every day. All participants must be able to swim and be comfortable in the water. A recreational diving medical may be required depending upon your medical history (if you are 45 years of age or over a dive medical will be required). If required, the medical must be completed prior to the course.
