Flying from Darwin or Cairns into Nhulunbuy (Gove) is the easiest way. There are daily flights from Cairns and Darwin to Gove with Airnorth.

It is also possible to drive to Nhulunbuy during the dry season via the Central Arnhem Road that connects with the Stuart Highway south of Katherine. This is a significant undertaking and requires a high clearance four-wheel-drive vehicle, an access permit through the Northern Land Council and a certain amount of planning.

Multi-day tours commence on the morning of the first day, with a pick up from accommodation in Nhulunbuy, or from a flight arriving at Gove airport as long as it comes in before 10am.&nbsp;

On the last day of the tour, transfers are provided back to Gove airport in time for you to check-in for departing flights, either in the morning or the afternoon.&nbsp;

To protect the vulnerable Yolngu communities, adult participants are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, and provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test before they can join a tour. Children 6~17 are required to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test before they can join a tour.

Tests are free in Australia. You can find the locations of COVID-19 test clinics on each state&rsquo;s Health Department website. &nbsp; &nbsp;

As Yolngu women dress conservatively, we ask that you do the same. Long skirts, long shorts or pants/trousers are suitable, as are t-shirts and knee length shorts. Please do not wear bikinis, mini-skirts or shorts that show butt-cheeks.&nbsp;

As you will spend most of your time outdoors, you should wear cool, comfortable clothing that will protect you from the sun and insects. Breathable natural fibres and/or synthetic wicking materials are highly recommended. Avoid synthetics that do not breathe well.&nbsp;

A good pair of walking shoes is recommended, and possibly a pair that you don&rsquo;t mind getting wet as there may be times that you will walk through water, or along rocky outcrops along the waters edge.

We also recommend a sweatshirt or a long-sleeved wind breaker for cooler nights and mornings.

The dilly bag is a powerful and important cultural symbol in Arnhem Land, where it was first created thousands of years ago. Woven with dyed pandanus leaves, the dilly bag has both a practical and a spiritual meaning.

Specific activities will vary according to the season and availability of materials.

During your tour, you will visit the remarkable art centre in Yirrkala - Buku-Larrnggay. Here you will see beautiful local works of art painted on bark, Larrakitj (ceremonial poles), woven baskets, jewelery and much more.
