Cambodia offers up an amazing culinary experience, a foodies’ paradise waiting to be discovered. Learn about what the locals eat and witness the passion your tour guides have for the local fare. The tour will start with a cooking class hosted by Long Lam, an ordinary local housewife with extraordinarily amazing skills in the kitchen. Lam’s first few steps to becoming a chef started as she sold beef skewers out of a motorbike stall! She trained herself to cook with guidance from her grandmother and eventually landed a job as a home’s junior chef. Now she has experience as a cooking school teacher, and she loves to share her knowledge with tourists. Her cooking class is also accompanied with a visit to an exciting local market.
Your next host, Soy, will help you navigate through Psar Leu, Siem Reap’s biggest and most intriguing local market, where you will find a variety of tropical fruits, sweet and savory snacks, and much more. This shopping experience will also lead into a tour of Siem Reap’s street food. These local markets and street vendors can often be daunting for those unfamiliar with the area -- how do you know what’s good, and more importantly - safe - to eat? No need to worry on this tour as Soy, who has been working in hotel hospitality for almost 7 years, will guide you through the best the streets have to offer and select only the most hygienic stalls and vendors.
Finally, one of the best parts of this 7 hour tour arrives -- the Khmer Spice Cocktail workshop! Please note, this cocktail class is not included as part of the listed price and will have to be selected as an add-on. But, most would agree, it’s worth it! This workshop will bring together your complete experience. Pari, who has over 10 years of professional bartending experience, and her sister, are pioneers of Khmer cocktails. They will show you how to cleverly create the most stunning cocktails using authentic, Cambodian spices. Participants of this tour are often amazed at how these sisters can meld together ingredients to create new flavors you would never have imagined in a drink.
