WHAT TO EXPECT
Land at the Great Barrier Reef & Whitehaven Beach all in one day! This is the ultimate bucket list adventure for any holiday in the Whitsundays.
You'll get to visit the World Heritage-listed Whitsunday Islands National Park and the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park from both the air and on the surface. Your journey starts with a convenient hotel pick-up to take you to the plane, ready for take-off.
Then, the scenic seaplane flight takes you over Whitsunday Island and the incredible views of Hill Inlet, where the deep turquoise waters mix with the white sands as the tide flows in and out, creating a swirling mosaic. AS you continue to the private lagoon in Hardy Reef, you'll also fly over Heart Reef. This is a section of coral that has naturally formed in the shape of a heart, and has long been a site of marriage proposals and declarations of love!
Once you reach the lagoon on Hardy Reef, your plane will touch down at a private vessel. It has an underwater viewing chamber, sun and shade deck areas, and easy access to the water. Spend time rejuvenating in the cool water and snorkelling the Great Barrier Reef. The lagoon provides calm conditions that are excellent for visibility. Keep an eye out for colourful coral gardens teeming with marine life such as fish, turtles, and rays. Use of snorkelling equipment and stinger suits is included. Then, enjoy a different perspective of the reef on a semi-submersible tour, with guided commentary.
As you head back to the mainland, you'll make a stop at the world-famous Whitehaven Beach, on Whitsunday Island. Not only is it known for clear turquoise waters, but also white silica sands that are perfect for sinking your toes into. The beach stretches for over 7 kilometres, so there's plenty of space to relax and soak in the sun. You'll get to spend a relaxing 90 minutes ashore, which also includes a delicious fresh lunch to replenish your energy. When it's time to say farewell to paradise, you'll board the seaplane for the scenic journey back to Airlie Beach.
