WHAT TO EXPECT
Figure 8 Pools Coastal Adventure & Hike with Barefoot Downunder are the ONLY tour that visits the Figure 8 Pools in Royal National Park.
Pick Up
Your Figure 8 Pools Coastal Adventure & Hike starts with a pick up from 812 George Street, Haymarket (in front of the St. Laurence Church) at 7.00 am. Guests need to arrive 15 minutes early. From there you will head about 37km (23 miles) or 45 mins south of Sydney to Royal National Park aka 'Nasho'.
Bald Hill Lookout
You'll start your day by visiting one of Illawarra’s best lookout spots known as the Bald Hill Lookout. This is a renowned hang-gliding spot and famous for its stunning coastal views.
Coastal Hike
From there you'll embark on a guided hike through the World's 2nd oldest national park along the 'Coast Track'. Soak up the beautiful views on this 6km (3.7 miles) return trek and keep your eyes peeled for wildlife such as dolphins and Humpback whales during migration season (May-Nov). The coastal hike involves uphill climb and rock hopping, requiring a medium to high level of fitness.
Burning Palms Beach
You'll continue your walk through to Burning Palms Beach and witness the heritage listed Coastal Shacks as your guide explains how they came to be.
Figure 8 Pools
Next up are the famous Figure 8 Pools, renowned for resembling the number 8 in shape, enjoy time spent swimming in the natural pools and taking the 'insta-famous' #figure8pools photo!*
*only accessible during low tide/safe ocean conditions.
Lunchtime & Wattamolla
After the hike back, its time to regain your energy as relax at the idyllic Wattamolla further down the south coast. Here you will have a chance to explore the waterfall, lagoon and beach. Lunch is not included today, so you can bring some snacks or purchase a chicken or salad roll ($8 and payable direct to the operator on the day).
Providential Point Lookout
Finish your day by walking up to Providential Point Lookout for panoramic views of the magnificent sandstone cliffs and headlands that surround the area.
Drop off
After a long day exploring, sit back & relax on board the bus as we pump some tunes and head out of Royal National Park back to Sydney Central for our one drop off.
IMPORTANT
Medium-high level of fitness required, hike involves an uphill climb and rock hopping. Suited to ages 18-49 yrs or the active young at heart. Min age 15 yrs. Tours operate during low tide/swell and in safe and calm ocean conditions. If the rock pools are not safe to visit on the day, then an alternative activity will be offered in place of the pools.
