What is the minimum age for this tour?
This tour is not recommended for children under 14.
Will I see crocodiles?
Saltwater Crocodiles are best spotted in the cooler months of the year (April-Oct). As the water temperature drops. Crocodiles spend more time bathing in the sun to warm their reptile bodies. This greatly improves the quality of our observations, however, Saltwater Crocodiles breed during the summer months (Nov-March) and therefore get quite active in the river.
Where does the tour depart?
The tour departs and returns to Cairns, Northern Beaches, and Port Douglas.
Are the tours wheelchair and disabled friendly?
The Operator offers private tours to suit guests' needs and provide a guide to level of mobility, but services are limited by vehicle fleets infrastructure. They are unable to provide an accessible bathroom or wheelchairs for those with more limited mobility, so they contact each guest personally when booking to discuss your needs and the services they are best able to provide.
Will we see crocodiles in the wild?
Saltwater Crocodiles are best spotted in the cooler months of the year (April-Oct) and spend more time bathing in the sun to warm their reptile bodies. In Queensland, they do not feed or entice their wild animals and have a 100% success rate with Croc spotting. During difficult weather, we may spend extra time on the cruise to fulfil our desires.
What do I wear?
Wearing comfortable clothes, wearing shoes, and carrying eco-friendly insect repellants are all important for our day tours. In the tropics, winter and summer months can be slightly cooler in the mornings, but natural light colors are recommended for wildlife spotting. Flat comfortable shoes or sandals are best for day walks, and umbrellas are great for swimming areas. Guests may wear long sleeve shirts and pants to combat the occasional insect, but this may not be advisable during the Summer months due to higher humidity. Our guides will keep us informed when it's advisable to wear repellant.
When do you cancel a tour?
The Dec-April period in the Wet Tropics region is a great time to experience seasonal wet weather and visit the 'Rain'-forest. Tropical Cyclones are approaching the FNQ coast and can cause warnings and cancellations due to flooding and fallen trees blocking access to National Parks. For day tours, two passengers are required and during off-peak season, cancellations may be necessary.
