Frequently Asked Questions about Skydive Queenstown

Can I take a camera with me?

Unfortunately, personal cameras and Go Pros are prohibited from being on board the aircraft due to safety and insurance reasons. All equipment has to be checked properly due to the extreme nature of skydiving. However, you can take photos on the ground while getting ready, and the Operator does offer a professional skydive photographer that is able to jump with you and take photos and videos during your skydive.

Nothing much! So long as you have footwear that won't fall off and an appropriate amount of clothing, depending on the season.  In winter, The Operator does recommend that multiple layers are more suitable than one large jacket.

By law, the minimum age to tandem skydive in New Zealand is 6 years of age and must have parental or legal guardian consent. If under 18 years old, a parent or legal guardian must be present at the drop zone on the day of the skydive. If a parent or legal guardian is not present, the customer must immediately notify a member of staff at the drop zone, who will arrange for the correct documents of consent to be sent and signed prior to skydiving.

All children are subject to an assessment on the day by the Tandem Master and must meet the minimum weight and height requirements, as well as fit the safety harness correctly.

Please note: Maximum altitude for any person skydiving who is 12 years and under is 9000ft.

The minimum weight is 40kg/88lbs, and all passengers must be big enough to fit safely into the harness.

The maximum weight is 115kg/253lbs. All persons over 95kg are subject to assessment at the drop zone.

The minimum height is 120cm/47.2inches.

Skydiving in New Zealand is generally considered to be safe as the industry is well-regulated and operates under strict safety guidelines. The country has a good safety record and many experienced and well-trained instructors. All skydiving operators in New Zealand are required to follow safety guidelines and regulations set by the New Zealand Parachute Industry Association (NZPIA).

The best season to skydive in New Zealand is generally during the summer months, which run from December to February. During this time, the weather is usually warmer and drier, and there are typically fewer weather-related cancellations and delays.

However, New Zealand's climate can be unpredictable, and weather conditions can change quickly. It's always best to check the weather forecast before booking a skydive and to be prepared for the possibility of cancellations or rescheduling due to weather.

Some people also enjoy skydiving during the off-season, which can offer a different experience. For example, in the winter months (June to August), you may have the opportunity to skydive over snow-capped mountains, which can be a stunning sight. However, winter weather conditions can be more challenging, and there may be fewer daylight hours available for skydiving.

Skydiving is a very weather-dependent activity, so sometimes you won’t be able to jump. The Operator will try their best to re-arrange your trip to the next time slot that suits and is available. For this reason, they advise you to book your skydive on the first available time slot in your holiday and keep a backup day free. If you cannot re-arrange for another trip, you will be refunded in full from wherever you paid originally.

Yes, you can wear your prescription glasses whilst skydiving. The Operator has goggles that will fit over your glasses

Yes!  But The Operator does suggest bringing your contact solution just in case your lenses dry out

If you are unsure if an existing medical condition or injury will affect your skydive, please consult with your doctor for advice. The Operator is unable to advise on medical issues.

Providing there is enough space in the buses, the Operator can take spectators for free. This won’t be guaranteed and only available at the time of the trip. Spectators are welcome to drive themselves to watch, though, and the Operator can provide directions. This is limited to one spectator per customer, and the Operator cannot allow spectators on the last trip of the day.
