WHAT TO EXPECT
Experience the unique landscape and history of Mt Tarawera. Infamous for its eruption on June 10th, 1886, Mt Tarawera created the world's youngest geothermal valley of Waimangu, at the same destroying the legendary Pink and White Terraces.
This fully guided walking experience encompasses the unique landscape and history of the area. With unmatched scenic vistas and 360 panoramic views this experience is ideal for all ages and includes an optional run in to the heart of the volcanic crater.
Mt Tarawera Half Day Volcanic Tours depart twice daily from Rotorua and includes expert guided walks around the summit and crater of Mt Tarawera, encompassing some of New Zealand's most stunning natural vistas, blended with the cultural and geological history of the mountain, the landscape and the people that lived near this amazing landmark.

- No previous experience is required on any of adventures as a full and comprehensive safety briefing will be conducted prior to each excursion.
- We provide courtesy transport from all Rotorua central accommodation locations.
- We operate 364 days per year closing for Christmas Day only.
