You’ll be taught by the most experienced dual tandem paragliding and hang gliding pilots in New Zealand. Our company has more than 30 years of experience in aviation, and we only work with the best people in the field. We can’t wait to share our passion and knowledge with you.

 

  • Fly the hang glider yourself from Queenstown's highest commercial take-off point

 

On this tour, you'll have the opportunity for some hands-on experience with the glider. That’s right - you’ll be able to fly the hang glider yourself! What makes it even better is that you'll  be flying from the highest commercial take-off point in Queenstown. As you can maybe imagine, the views from the mountain are pretty spectacular, look out for New Zealand’s longest lake, Lake Wakatipu as well as the smaller Lake Hayes.  

 

  • What to expect on the day

 

Your pilot will take you through the training and safety instructions. But don’t worry, it’s all very easy... it's a short run and bam, up you go! We recommend you wear practical footwear such as sneakers or running shoes. It's also a smart idea to bring an extra shirt as it can get quite chilly up there.  From the moment your feet leave the ground, you’ll feel a surge of adrenaline. Our hang gliding flights reach an altitude of about 3,800 feet, the views are totally worth it!

 

  • Want to get an action shot?

 

During your flight, you’ll be too busy enjoying the views so we're more than happy to take your pictures for you. If you’re interested in this option, just talk to your pilot beforehand. Once you land, we’ll  have your photos and video ready to purchase. This way the memory will stay with you for a lifetime.

With Paragliding you are in a sitting position and with Hang Gliding you are in a prone, facing down position. Both activities are a lot of fun. Give it a go! Why not try both in a combo!?

Bring some good footwear (sneakers, running shoes), something that can give you good ankle support, as you are required to do a short run on take off. Also, bring a warm top to wear. The views are just fantastic. And your adventurous mood!

Allow about 2 hours in summer and 2 1/2 hours in winter for the round trip – that is from the time we pick you up to the time you will be back in Queenstown.

We fly from the highest take off point in Queenstown, Coronet Peak. Average flight time on the parglider is 12-15 mins, on the hang glider 10-12 mins. We rely on mother nature, so it can vary quite a bit, sometimes the flights are longer than the average, sometimes a bit shorter.

Yes. The minimum weight for a passenger on a paraglider is 20 kg, the maximum is 110 kg. For hang gliding the minimum weight we can carry is 20 kg and the maximum is 90 kg.(Conditions apply)

We provide free transport from Queenstown to take off and back.

The tour starts and ends at the Kiwi Discovery Shop, 37 Camp Street, Queenstown.

As our activities are weather dependent, we would recommend to book your paragliding/hang gliding experience earlier during your stay in Queenstown rather than later. That way you have got a greater chance of flying.

If the trip has to be cancelled due to weather conditions, there are no cancellation fees. However, if you cancel your trip within 48hr of departure, there is a 20% cancellation fee applicable. Cancellations within an hour of departure require a 50% cancellation fee.
No refund is given, if customer is not turning up on time for departure of the trip.

We’d love you to bring a friend along to watch as long as we have got room in the van. There is a small charge of NZ$20 per spectators.

Yes. Photos and videos are available. Ask your instructor about the possibility at the start of the tour.

It is a no go for cameras for the hang gliding, I am afraid. You can bring your little action camera on your paragliding flight as long as it is mounted on a chest or wristharness. Big SLR cameras are a no go as well.

Policies
Terms & Conditions:

  • The supplier reserve the right to cancel or amend any trip or booking. 
  • Weight restrictions apply: minimum weight 15kg, maximum weight 110kg.


Cancellation Policy:

In the event that a booking is cancelled, the following fees will apply:

  • Cancellations 48 hours before departure: 20% of the total cost
  • Cancellations 1 hour before departure: 50% of the total cost
  • No show or late arrivals: 100% of the cost
  • Please note: there is no fee if the supplier cancels the trip due to unsuitable weather conditions
  • 100% of the cost will be charged if the customer exceeds the maximum passenger weight of 90kg for hang gliding.
