WHAT TO EXPECT



Discover Tongariro River on this half-day rafting adventure! Taking you over 60 grade 3 rapids, this trip will excite and delight you. This is an ideal adventure for expert or first-time rafters alike. Enjoy views of spectacular unspoilt wilderness, with sections of the trip only accessible by kayak or raft!

Your unforgettable adventure starts with an on-shore safety briefing and paddle instructions from one of your experienced guides. You and the rest of the crew will then begin your whitewater rafting journey on grade 3 rapids!

You'll spend 2.5 hours on the water and navigate over 60 heart-pounding, roller coaster rapids with an expert guide at the helm. Throughout the trip, you’ll be treated to sights only accessed by raft. Adrenalin-pumping action paired with stunning New Zealand surrounds... it doesn't get better than this! 

You'll also get to enjoy a lunch of wholesome deli food in summer and hot soup and bread in winter. Tea and coffee are available and you'll also get to access to thermal hot pools in winter. 

Departure times:
SUMMER (NOVEMBER 1 - MARCH 31): 9am and 2pm
APRIL (APRIL 1 - APRIL 30): 9am and 1pm
WINTER (MAY 1 - OCTOBER 31): 12 noon

Free pick-ups and drop-offs from Taupo, Turangi and National Park accommodation. Please advise location when booking.

No previous experience is needed! You'll start your unforgettable adventure with an on-shore safety briefing and paddle instructions with one of our experienced guides. You and the rest of the crew will then begin your white water rafting journey on grade 3 rapids - an ideal grade for experienced paddlers or first-time rafters.

Policies
Terms & Conditions:

  • No alcohol can be taken on board the vessels.
  • Any willful damage incurred to the property of Tongariro River Rafting will be charged to you, the client.
  • Tongariro River Rafting and/or their employees are not liable for any property loss or damage, personal injury or suffering while participating in an activity.
  • No refunds or credits will be provided if you fail to advise any amendments to the booking or fail to report at the venue of the operator with the appropriate vouchers issued for that booking on the day and/or time booked. Bottom of Form


Cancellation Policy:

  • If a cancellation is made by you, the client, within 24 hours of arrival day, loss of 100% of the total booking price. All cancellations incur a loss of 20% of the total booking price.
  • Tongariro River Rafting reserves the right to cancel or alter a cruise due to adverse weather conditions, or if a client is unsuitable due to age, size, ill health or poor fitness. If a cruise is cancelled by Tongariro River Rafting, you will be given the opportunity to change your booking date or be given a refund.
  • There will be no refund given if a participant fails to turn up for a confirmed booking. There will be no refund for a booking cancelled within 24 hours of departure. A 50% cancellation fee will apply to any cancellations within 2 days of a confirmed bookings departure.
