Haggas Honking Holes
Enjoy 4 hours of abseiling, rock-climbing & slipping and sliding through the maze of underground glowing caves!
Why do we love this
We love that you get to see the stunning Waitomo glowworms on this tour. Somehow they make the caving experience even more magical!
WHAT TO EXPECT
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be flushed down a hole on a rope? Ever wanted to abseil past glowworms and through cave systems? Then get ready for Waitomo's most intense action adventure!
This caving expedition packs a lot into only four hours. You'll encounter abseils (often in waterfalls), rock climbs, unique limestone formations and get up close to glowworms while exploring this fantastic cave system.
See stalactites and stalagmites and marvel at New Zealand’s famous glowworms. They'll light your way as you venture through the caves.
There's no swimming required but you're definitely going to get wet! Get ready for jump through waterfalls and plenty of skids and splashes. If you want a quick fix of adrenaline and lots of fun - this is it!
Hot showers provided before heading back to Waitomo so you can warm up after your underground adventure.
You don’t need any prior experience for this adventure, but participants will need to be brave and fit. Full equipment and training are provided. There is a high guide ratio and your safety is assured.
Your guide will take photos on basic cameras throughout your experience. These are provided to clients via internet at no extra charge.
Please allow up to 4 hours for this activity, including at least 2 hours underground.
Check-in time is 30 minutes before scheduled departure.

How many participants are there?
What if it's raining?
Our Haggas Honking Holes trip never floods, so you don't need to worry. The trip will still go ahead in wet weather.
What about photos? Can I bring a camera?
We provide a basic photo service. Our guides take photos on basic cameras and these are provided to clients via the internet at no extra charge. However, please be aware that the focus of our activities is on adventure, not photography.
We have found that the flow of these activities becomes disrupted if clients take their own camera gear. One person’s photographic dream can be at the expense of others in the group who just want to get on with the adventure. There are also safety issues e.g. where loose gear could fall and become damaged or even injure someone. For all these reasons, no client photography equipment is permitted on any activities. This includes no cameras; no videos; no Go-Pros etc.
If you are a professional photographer and really want to take photos with your own gear, then you can talk to us about arranging an exclusive trip for this purpose.
You are welcome to take your camera to the very start of the activity but will have to leave it behind in the lockers before you head underground.
Your understanding and cooperation are much appreciated!
