Float downstream on a bamboo raft<br /><br />Ages ago, Northern Thailand was untouched as a tourist spot. It was only visited by true blue adventurers. But now as that the secret is out, the once isolated hill tribe villages are inundated with tourists. But this is not very bad to Thailand because, for the real thing, you've got to go deeper. On this 5 day tour, join us as we trek further into the hills. Immerse yourself in the rice fields and lush valleys, far away from the crowds. Interact with a shaman, the medicine woman or man. For those who want to experience both nature and the locals' affection, the magic of Northern Thailand is still out there; you just have to know run to it.

Thailand is seasoned for trekking. It is full of dripping, pristine rainforests, and soaring mountains cloaked up in the haze. It has landscapes that make you weak in the knees and makes you want to get out on and explore. But what makes trekking in Thailand so content is not only nature but essentially, the people that make every step count. Be it the remote hill tribes hardly touched by the outside world or the local guides whose rampant passion and fervour, they are sure to lead you to a deeper understanding of this fascinating country. From the luxury of Bangkok's malls and gleaming high rises, head north to Thailand's hills. Spend time with the hill tribes and get familiar with their cultures.<br /><br />Day 1: Bangkok
Arrive anytime. You’ll have a welcome meeting scheduled for an hour at 18:00. So, buckle your shoes, grab that hat and step out to explore Bangkok. Get back in time for the welcome meeting; know your CEO and your group. Also, learn about the tour details as your CEO reviews it. Your overnight stay will be at the Bangkok Centre hotel or similar hotel.

Days 2: Bangkok to Chiang Mai
Get aboard a long-tailed boat and sail on Chao Phraya River. See skyscrapers, temples, and shops in the distance. Visit Wat Po and let the holy atmosphere of the Thai Buddhist temple give you some peace of mind. Visit the famous reclining Buddha, covered in gold leaf. Soothe your muscles with a Thai massage at the country’s leading school of massage at Wat Po. Shop for a while or a stroll along Khao San Rd. Board an overnight train to Chiang Mai in the evening. Your overnight accommodation will be at the Prime Hotel Central Station Bangkok or similar hotels with breakfast. You can have an optional visit to Grand Palace or Wat Arun.

Days 3: Chiang Mai
There’s a lot to do in the vibrant and lively city of Chiang Mai. Go on a guided tour of Doi Suthep temple. Climb the 300 step naga staircase to one of northern Thailand's most sacred temples. Or take a cable car and enjoy the view. Learn about the temple, built on top of a mountain. Enjoy street food crawl with your group and CEO. Your overnight accommodation will be at Chiang Mai Gate Hotel or similar hotel. You can opt for optional activities such as cooking classes, a night market visit, a Southeast Asian style Massage, Yoga classes.

Days 4: Chiang Mai to Ban Mae Jok
Today’s highlight is Northern Thailand. Board the pickup truck at the hotel. Stop at the local tourist police station to stamp the document required for trekking in the area before driving to Mae Malai. Trek through the rugged forests and marvel at the wonderful diversity of this region: language, belief system, style of dress, and traditions are all unique to every village. The trek will begin from Mae Malai village. After hiking for a few hours, reach the first village. If time permits we shall visit a local market before lunch. The hills of northern Thailand are very colourful because of the unchanged traditional communities. The exact itinerary of the walking on this trip may change from time to time, taking into account the weather and local conditions. Reach Baan Mae Jok, a Karen village.

Days 5: Ban Mae Jok to Pa Khao Lam
Trek for about 2 hours or 3 hours. After lunch, head to a Karen village, where you can learn about their traditional basket weaving and scarf making. Continue trekking for a few more hours to the next village for the night. Fish at Mae Tang River using local tools; learn how to construct.

Days 6: Pa Khao Lam to Chiang Mai
After breakfast, board the traditional bamboo raft for a leisurely ride down the Mae Tang River. En route, stop by few villages and finally reach the Lahu hill tribe village near Ban Pong Ngan and learn about the culture of the Lahu tribe. Meet the van at Ban Sop Gai after lunch and head back to Chiang Mai for some free time to explore. Your overnight accommodation will be at Chiang Mai Gate Hotel or similar hotels with breakfasts and lunch.

Days 7: Chiang Mai to Bangkok
There's a lot to see and do in Bangkok, and we want to make sure that you have some quality time to take it all in. So, feel free to relax or try optional activities. You may also take a cycle tour of the city. In case you can’t decide, ask your CEO and will assist you.  Take an overnight train to Bangkok. You can have an optional activity such as cooking classes, Southeast Asian Massage, Yoga classes and a visit to Doi Suthep Temple, Chang Mai city tour, and Chang Mai cycling tour.

Days 8: Bangkok
Arrive in Bangkok at approximately 08:00. The trip ends on arrival at the Bangkok train station. Your CEO can help with any onward travel arrangements you require.

What to bring:
Flight info such as printouts of e-tickets may be required at the border, insurance info with photocopies, passport with photocopies, required visas or vaccination certificates with photocopies, vouchers and pre-departure information, binoculars, camera with extra memory cards and batteries, cash, credit and debit cards, day pack used for daily excursions or short overnights, ear plugs, first-aid kit consisting of lip balm with sunscreen, sunscreen, whistle, Aspirin, Ibuprofen, bandaids or plasters, tape, anti-histamines, antibacterial gel or wipes, antiseptic cream, Imodium or similar tablets for mild cases of diarrhea, rehydration powder, water purification tablets or drops, insect repellent, sewing kit, extra prescription drugs you may be taking , flashlight or torch, headlamps, fleece top or sweater, footwear, hat, locks for bags, long pants or jeans, moneybelt, outlet adapter, personal entertainment, reusable water bottle, shirts or t-shirts, sleepwear, small travel towel, sunglasses, toiletries which can be biodegradable, watch and alarm clock, waterproof backpack cover, windproof rain jacket, drybag, external battery pack, sarong, snorkel gear.

What to wear:
Long-sleeved shirts or sweater, scarf, warm gloves, warm hat, warm layers is recommended in cold weather. Modest clothing that covers knees and shoulders, shawl or scarf for temple visits.

Conditions:
The tour is applicable for travellers aged from 18 years till 39 years. The tour can accommodate a maximum of 16 people and an average of 10 people. Travel insurance is compulsory in order to participate in any of our trips. When travelling on a group trip, you will not be permitted to join the group until evidence of travel insurance has been sighted by your leader, who will take note of your insurance details. When selecting a travel insurance policy we require that at a minimum you are covered for medical expenses including emergency evacuation and repatriation. Laundry facilities are offered by some of our hotels for a charge. Your flight must depart no earlier than 13:00 on day 8.
