Frequently Asked Questions

What clothes should I bring?

Australia has a relaxed attitude to standards of dress. However, depending on the time of year you are travelling, you may need to be prepared for the extremes. Temperatures in Southern Australia in winter (June, July, August) can get quite cold with daytime temperatures from 10 to18 degrees Celsius and nighttime temperatures can reach zero. Please ensure you pack appropriately. You’ll be nice and snug when travelling in the vehicles and staying in your accommodation but for the outdoor activities you’ll need warm jackets and a raincoat, just in case.

In summer, daytime temperatures can be extreme from November to April with temperatures generally in the 30s but sometimes reaching over 40 degrees Celsius. Be prepared to endure extra physical stress due to the heat at these times, especially while on walks. If travelling in summer we recommend that you bring loose, cool, cotton clothing to protect yourself from the harsh sun. A sun hat, sunscreen and sunglasses are a must.

With luggage restrictions you need to pack sensibility and light. Please ensure you have comfortable walking shoes, a hat, jacket, raincoat, sunglasses, water bottle or camelbak, swimmers, beach towel and of course a camera.

For cooler months if you are camping we strongly recommend beanies, thermals, thick warm socks and gloves. It can get very cold during the night.

When camping, we use single swags. Swags are 'Aussie Bed Rolls' made from sturdy canvas with a mattress built into the swag. Passengers must provide a sleeping bag and pillow to insert into the swag.

Yes. Special diets and or food allergies MUST be informed at the time of booking. Some of the food for the trip is purchased prior to commencement and special requirements cannot be catered for after departing. If you have not notified us prior to departure, you may be asked to pay for any additional food yourself. Many of your meals are at restaurants, so it is also beneficial if you can advise them prior to your arrival.

There is a 15kg maximum luggage limit and one day bag for the bus.

Small group tours and charters depending on group size will travel in a Toyota Commuter (14 people) or Toyota Coaster Bus (20 people).

For hygiene and operational reasons we don’t offer sleeping bag hire on our camping trips so you will need to bring your own. You can purchase a sleeping bag for around $30 at any department or camping store in Australia. If you are doing quite a lot of camping whilst here we’d recommend investing in a better quality one that will keep you warm in extreme conditions.

If you don’t require a sleeping bag after your tour, our guide will happily take it from you and donate it to charity.

Camping accommodation is at a private property called Happiness at Antechamber Bay.

The property has a camp kitchen, bathroom & lounge facilities.

If it is too cold to camp or wet outside to camp around the campfire, there is plenty of room to roll out the swags indoors.

Peak season on the island might be summer, but for nature lovers, the cooler months provide just as much fun and adventure.

In autumn, the wind is low, and the days are bright and clear. The calm weather makes autumn a wonderful time for snorkelling and bushwalking.

Come winter, birdlife is teeming, and the seascapes seem even more dramatic. Kangaroo joeys emerge from their mothers' pouches, and young koalas are easily spotted, perched on their mums' backs.

Winter is whale time with the annual migration of the Southern Right Whales.

You can often spot mothers and their young resting along the sheltered bays. It is also when the bush bursts into colour as native plants bloom. It really is a photographer's dream.
