The tour departs from the Kimberley Travellers Lodge, 9a Bagot Street, Broome.

You will arrive back in Broome where your Kimberley adventure will come to an end on the 11th day.

The beauty of our style of travel is that it caters to travellers who are travelling solo and who want to meet and share experiences with like-minded people.

Rooming is organised on a twin-share basis. We pair up solo travellers with another traveller of the same gender.

We also have an optional single supplement available on most trips for travellers who prefer to have their own room. This will apply to all nights on the tour.

This trip involves activities like hiking on uneven terrain and clambering over boulders. Therefore, it is best suited to travellers with a very good level of mobility and fitness. Details on physical activities can be found in the itinerary.

All countries require a valid passport (with a minimum 6 months validity).

Contact your local embassy or consulate for the most up-to-date visa requirements, or see your travel agent.

It is your own responsibility to have the correct travel documentation. Visa requirements for your trip will vary depending on where you are from and where you are going.

Yes, travel insurance is compulsory on this trip.

Every traveller is different and therefore spending money requirements will vary. Some travellers may drink more than others while other travellers like to purchase more souvenirs than most. Please consider your own spending habits when it comes to allowing for drinks, shopping and tipping. Please also remember the following specific recommendations when planning your trip.

You can have a plate of food for a street vendor for AU$10-$20, however there are always more expensive options. From a mid-range, sit-down restaurant, expect to pay AU$20-$80 - not including alcohol.

LUGGAGE LIMIT
Please keep your luggage to a minimum. Due to limited space and strictly enforced road laws regarding weight limits, travellers can carry a maximum of 15 kg. One small soft-sided bag plus a day pack is essential. The Operator recommends against bringing hard/externally framed suitcases as they are difficult to store and can damage equipment and other travellers' belongings. If your trip begins and ends at the same location, excess luggage can usually be stored at your arrival/departure hotel and can be collected after your trip.

WATER BOTTLE
Consider bringing your own water bottle to refill along the way. The sale of bottled water contributes to an enormous environmental problem around the world. In addition to the water in bottles, the production of a 1-litre plastic bottle takes 2 litres of water and 200ml of oil. A large proportion ends up in limited landfill or discarded in waterways and natural environments.

SLEEPING BAG
You will need to bring a sleeping bag for this trip. Sleeping bags are available for sale – these must be requested prior to travel with your travel agent and can be kept following your trip or donated to local indigenous communities. If you do not wish to keep your sleeping bag, The Operator will return them to the operations department, where they will be washed and donated to local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

ESSENTIALS

Lightweight clothing. You will need to bring a mixture of lightweight clothing and layers. Long shirts and pants are useful to protect against the harsh Australian sun. Clothes should be easy to wash and dry.
Clothing depending on the season: During dry season months (May-July), overnight temperatures can drop below 0 Celsius, but daytime temperatures can exceed 30 degrees Celsius. Daytime temperatures and humidity can be extreme in the shoulder seasons of March, April, September, and October, with temperatures over 35 degrees Celsius. Night-time temperatures can also be high at this time of year.
Comfortable closed-in shoes will help to protect your feet from cuts and scratches when walking through bush/grasslands and will also act as a barrier protection in rare cases against bites or stings.
Sun protection - hat, sunscreen, sunglasses
Sleeping bag

RECOMMENDED

Personal medical kit. A larger kit will be on hand with your guide, but The Operator recommends you carry items such as mild painkillers, electrolytes, band-aids and insect repellent.
Water bottle – at least a 1.5-litre capacity.
A headlamp or torch is recommended for around your accommodation at night.
Camera with spare batteries.

OPTIONAL

Sleep sheet. If you are travelling during the hot season, you may wish to pack a sleep sheet so you will be comfortable no matter what the weather.
Ear plugs
A good book, a journal and music player

VALUABLES
Please try to avoid bringing unnecessary valuables. The Operator strongly recommends that you photocopy all important documents, e.g. air tickets, passport, vaccination certificate, etc. and keep the copies separate from the originals. While not valid, a photocopy makes it much easier to obtain replacements if necessary.

BATTERIES/POWER
Most trips have access to power to recharge batteries for phones and cameras every couple of days. However, the Operator always recommends that you carry an extra battery for your camera just in case.

Due to limited vehicle space and strictly enforced road laws regarding weight limits, your main piece of luggage must be soft-sided and weigh no more than 15kg/33lb. You can also bring a day pack/bag to carry water, camera, sunscreen, etc when you’re exploring during the day.

The trip involves camping for 10 nights, with meals provided including 10 breakfasts, 10 lunches, and 8 dinners. Transportation will be facilitated by a private vehicle throughout the journey.

All food for this trip is purchased and packed before your group leaves on Day 1. After the group has left town, it can be very difficult to source food to meet dietary requests. If you have dietary requirements and/or food allergies, please let your booking agent know before departure so that The Operator can purchase appropriate food before Day 1 of the trip. You may be asked to pay for any additional food if you have not advised them of any special dietary requirements in advance.
The below dietary needs can be easily catered for. Unfortunately, dietary requirements outside of these are generally unable to be catered for on these trips.

  • Vegetarian
  • Gluten-free
  • Dairy-free (soy alternatives available)
  • Pork-free

During the peak of the tourist season, May to September, you should generally expect clear blue skies day after day. However, heavy rains can occur and may affect road access to more remote areas, and this may cause the closure of roads. In Winter (June, July, and August), nighttime temperatures can reach below zero. The Operator reserves the right to cancel or postpone any tour due to unforeseen circumstances, such as road conditions, flooding, mechanical defect, cultural considerations or other reason.
