What to Expect
Embark on a historical journey along the iconic Route 66 and into the depths of the amazing Grand Canyon Caverns on a guided full-day adventure. Marvel at the geological formations of these enormous caverns that dwarf you into insignificance, and visit the one-of-a-kind Route 66 Electric Vehicle Museum.
Housed in a historical powerhouse building that lit the way for the earliest Route 66 travellers, the Route 66 Museum has a unique story to tell about the history of the "Mother Road". The powerhouse building also supplied power for the construction of Hoover Dam, until the Dam began producing cheaper hydroelectric power in the late 1930s. The Route 66 Electric Vehicle Museum is the first of its kind, exhibiting twenty-nine (and counting) vehicles on loan from the Historic Electric Vehicle Foundation, an organisation with members worldwide.
On the next stop, your cavern tour begins with an elevator ride down 21 stories into the Grand Canyon Caverns Chapel of the Ages cavern. The cavern has held numerous weddings throughout the years and is large enough to hold two football fields. An expert guide will lead you through a one-hour tour of these amazing caverns, which have an ambient year-round temperature, sharing the cavern's amazing history and educating you on the unique geological formations within the caverns.
At the end of the underground tour and after you have worked up an appetite, travel back up to the top for time to enjoy a hot or cold boxed lunch. Your day full of adventures concludes on the return trip to your accommodation.
