WHAT TO EXPECT
Simple, delicious and traditional, sushi is one of Japan's most iconic foods. In this cooking class, you'll learn how to roll and slice it like a pro, as you watch local instructors and learn how to make 5 different types of sushi roll! You'll also learn about dashi, traditional soup stock, and types of seasoning such as soy, mirin, sake and miso.
Your class begins with a warming cup of Japanese tea and then it's time to start cooking.
First, have a go at making rolled egg, Japan's version of an omelette, that's fried and then rolled into delicate spirals. You'll also learn the art of making perfect sushi rice, essential for this Japanese dish. Afterwards, it's onto the sushi making! Start off with a simple Inari Sushi - sushi rice stuffed in seasoned tofu pouches. Delicious!
Next, it's time to make a tuna roll - simple and full of flavour! Make sure you're watching closely so you can try and make it again at home.
Your next dish is a cucumber roll, then the iconic California roll, full of rice, crab, cucumber and avocado. This is like a reverse sushi roll - the seaweed is on the inside and the rice on the outside. Then, try something a little different with Nigiri sushi. Top with a slice of fresh seafood and its ready to eat!
Your final dish is the perfect end to your sushi feast - a delicious salty miso soup.
Throughout the class there'll be the chance to take photos of your creations, so don't eat them too quickly!
Class duration is 3 hours. Each class starts at 1:30 pm until 4:30 pm.
