WHAT TO EXPECT
The tour begins with a ferry cruise to Moreton Bay Marine Park. Spot dolphins, fish, a variety of sea birds, whales, dugong and turtles. Once arriving on North Stradbroke we travel by 4WD through the hills of this great sand island.
Arrive in the forest for a short bush walk to Lake Bummiera (Brown Lake) and the magnificent Blue Lake National Park. Take time to swim, relax or snorkel. Return to the 4WD vehicle and on to Amity Point and Cylinder Beach. Flinders Beach offers views of Moreton Island National Park and Big Sand Hills (subject to tidal and beach conditions). The eastern side of the island, Main Beach, is fringed by white sandy beaches and turquoise waters. The rocky outcrop to the north is a regular spot for sighting dolphins, turtles and manta rays.
In the afternoon visit the Myora Freshwater Springs, Deadman's and Frenchman's Beaches - hidden bays and deserted sandy shores. Some areas have been listed as some of the world's most ecologically important wetlands and have several freshwater lakes, waterways and lagoons. Return via the historical towns of Amity Point (fishing village with the island's best boating, fishing and resident koala colony), Dunwich township and jetty. Take a relaxing ferry cruise across the bay as the sun sets over the mountains. Guide will return group to Cleveland, Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
