You are the leader. The staff provide all the information (maps and riding instructions) you need, but you&rsquo;re in charge! Self-guided tours offer flexibility but with the reassurance of support, just a phone call away.

There is FREE parking in Ahuriri and plenty of it.

The&nbsp;trails are flat and easy!

If you are on a multiday tour to get maximum enjoyment from your cycling experience, you should have a moderate fitness level. Cycling times range from two to six hours, with options available for those who want more or less time on the bike.

The Operator provides you with detailed daily instructions for your cycling trail as well as local maps. These will be printed so you can carry them with you as well as on Google Maps which they will provide a link for.

Sunblock, cell phone for emergencies, rain jacket, swimming togs (if you want to take a dip in one of the rivers en route), plenty of water and your wallet (for those bottles of wine!) should be all you need.&nbsp;

Bike panniers are available for those who would like them fitted to their bike. Panniers are generally large enough for a couple&rsquo;s daily requirements, but some people may prefer to use their own day pack.&nbsp;

There are many options for lunches along the trails, and this is something that cyclists love to explore. The various cafes and wineries offer everything from platters to full restaurants suiting every budget. Let the staff know if you would like them to book a restaurant for your lunch stop.

Hawke&rsquo;s Bay is home to many outstanding and popular restaurants. A full list of &lsquo;dining out&rsquo; recommendations will be provided to you.

The Operator offers a free mechanical backup service and will provide you with a local phone number to call if you break down. Depending on where you are, some wait time is to be expected. In the event of a puncture, full puncture repair kits are provided. Repairing the puncture yourself is often your quickest and easiest option; however, they are happy to help if that is your preference.

This is a very diverse, flexible and scenic tour that can be adapted to suit how far you want to ride and what you want to see. It&#39;s a great family-friendly option with many features, including wineries, estuary trails, Art Deco buildings and coastal pathways.

Departing the port village of Ahuriri, you&#39;ll cycle around the port to Napier city, a world-renowned Art Deco treasure. Spend some time enjoying the Art Deco city before following the coastal pathway with spectacular views across the Pacific to Cape Kidnappers.

&nbsp;

Turn inland and follow the Tutaekuri River trail, overlooking orchards to the suburb of Taradale. Add on the Puketapu Loop, which takes you a further 16km around the river.

&nbsp;

Then, visit two of the region&#39;s finest wineries, Church Road and the Mission Estate, before cycling on to the Ahuriri Estuary trail to see many native birds and wetlands.&nbsp;

&nbsp;

If you want, you can also include a detour to Bayview, where you will find the relaxed Crab Farm Winery. Then, finish off back in Ahuriri with a visit to Urban Winery or one of many restaurants and bars in this relaxed coastal village.

&nbsp;

For the full day, allow six hours, and you will need to start your ride by 11:00 am. Then for the half-day option, allow three hours, and you will need to start your ride by 1:00 pm.&nbsp;

Our&nbsp;Responsibility

In any adventure activity there is an element of risk involved. Takaro Trails Ltd take all practicable steps to minimise potential dangers by providing safety equipment (helmets), safe routes and well-maintained bikes.

As we are in the traffic light system to control the spread of COVID-19, we have put some guidelines in place.&nbsp;Takaro Trails has a few classifications so we are luckily able to cater for all in some way.

	<li>Shopfront&nbsp;&ndash; this is a retail space and you will need a vaccine pass to enter our premise.</li>
	<li>Shuttle vans&nbsp;&ndash; this is transport and a restricted space and you will need a vaccine pass to ride in our vans.</li>
	<li>Bike Hire&nbsp;&ndash; if needed, we are able to offer this as a non contact pick up with booking and payment online or over the phone and your bikes will be waiting outside for you to pick up. You don&rsquo;t need a vaccine pass for this service- please call us to arrange.</li>
</ul>

It&rsquo;s important to note&nbsp;that all wineries and pubs will be asking for vaccination passes and we can&rsquo;t book on behalf of our customers without knowing your status.&nbsp;All our winery tour customers (which involve shuttles and winery visits) will need to show a vaccine pass on booking.

If it was our choice, we would never discriminate. But we want to keep our team and customers as safe as possible (and we think vaccinations are the way to control the spread of disease) so have decided this is the best way through (and we know it won&rsquo;t be forever).

Customer Responsibility

The customer agrees to:

	<li>the care and safekeeping of all equipment hired from Takaro Trails for the duration of the hire. If damage is deemed to be beyond general wear and tear and more customer neglect, you will be contacted and invoiced to cover the cost to return the bike and all extra equipment to the order in which you initially received it.</li>
	<li>adhere to the NZ road code at all times, including ensuring that any under 15 years cyclists follow these rules too.</li>
	<li>accept full responsibility for personal medical suitability to take part in this cycle tour and have declared any medical information important that is relevant.</li>
	<li>show your vaccine pass if asked.</li>
</ul>

Booking Cancellations for Day Tours

After booking confirmation is confirmed, payment is required within 7 days.

If you require to cancel, contact us 48 hours or less prior to departure 100% of your tour cost is lost or credit can be applied to a future booking.&nbsp;

Please talk to us if you think the weather is not looking good, we may be able to offer alternatives. A decision will be made on the day of booking before 9am.

For all cancellations due to Covid-19 restrictions,&nbsp;we will&nbsp;transfer 100% of the tour costs paid to any future tour or you can choose&nbsp;a 100% refund (minus any credit card fees).

Booking Cancellations for 2 Day Baycation Tours

After booking confirmation is confirmed, payment is required within 7 days.&nbsp;

If cancelled before 10 days prior to departure we will&nbsp;transfer 100% of the tour costs paid to any future tour OR&nbsp;you can choose to receive a refund less the booking fee of $50 per person.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Cancellations within the 10 days prior to your tour 100% of your tour cost is lost&nbsp;except in exceptional circumstances (up to the discretion of the tour operator).

Booking Cancellations for 3 Day + Multiday Tours

A deposit of $100.00 per adult is required within 7 days of confirmation with the balance payable one month prior to your arrival in Hawke&rsquo;s Bay.&nbsp;

If a customer cancels after booking is confirmed,&nbsp;deposit is lost.

If cancelled between 14-30 days prior to departure, tour costs credit can be applied to any future bookings minus the $100pp deposit.

If cancelled 14 days or less prior to departure 100% of your tour cost is lost, except in exceptional circumstances (up to the discretion of the tour operator).&nbsp;

HOWEVER Covid-19: means uncertain times&hellip;

We understand there is a lot of uncertainty around making plans with the threat of Covid-19 related travel alerts interfering with travel bookings. We have added some special conditions for bookings on&nbsp;multiday&nbsp;tours operating from September 2020 onwards affected by Covid-19 to help you book in confidence:

Should New Zealand Government alert level 3 or 4 travel restrictions prevent a New Zealand resident booked on a Takaro Trails Multiday&nbsp;Cycle Tour from travelling, we will apply a no questions asked policy.

For all cancellations due to Covid-19 restrictions,&nbsp;we will&nbsp;transfer 100% of the tour costs paid to any future tour or you can choose&nbsp;a refund. The refund will be&nbsp;based on the tour costs minus any fees from our accommodation providers&nbsp;less an admin fee of $50 per person.
