What to Expect
Explore the incredible natural beauty of Litchfield National Park, come face to face with a giant saltwater croc, swim in spectacular waterfalls and enjoy a breathtaking sunset on this amazing outback adventure.
This tour crams it all in on this one day! A real Northern Territory extravaganza! Cruise through some of the most crocodile infested rivers in the world and get up close and personal with these deadly creatures. Marvel at the beauty of Litchfield National Park and cool off in the crystal clear (and crocodile free) waters at the foot of Florence Falls before enjoying glass of bubbly and some fresh prawns as you take in a spectacular ocean sunset from the stunning East Point Reserve in Darwin.
Where we visit:
Get off to a bright and early start with a pick up from your Darwin accommodation between 6:45am and 7:45am. Drive to the Adelaide River where you'll board the boat for a private jumping crocodile cruise. Here, you'll be accompanied by friendly and experienced croc-handler, Pat. The purpose-built boats mean that you can get up close and personal with some really big crocs, a must-do Territory experience!
Make sure your cameras are at the ready to capture a glimpse of the magnificent giant saltwater crocodiles as they leap out of the water, and keep an eye on the skies as big birds of prey like the stunning white breasted sea eagle also swoop down to get in on the action.
When the adrenaline subsides, it’s time to get back on the road and head to the beautiful Litchfield National Park, a highlight of anyone’s trip to the Northern Territory. En route, swing by Batchelor Township, an old mining town and the main entry point to the National Park. Let friendly local guides show you around and share their expert knowledge on Darwin and Litchfield National Park’s history and culture. Afterwards, you'll make a brief stop in Litchfield to marvel at some incredible magnetic and cathedral-esque termite mounds!
Enjoy a break for lunch, and then drive deep into the heart of the National Park, uncovering the secrets of the area. Explore the incredibly beautiful Wangi Falls, a series of tiered drops that fall from around 50m! On a hot day, there’s no better feeling than diving into the stunning plunge pool and enjoying the breathtaking views from the bottom of the falls.
Next up is the beautiful Buley Rockholes, a relaxing collection of crystal clear swimming holes and mini falls set against a backdrop of lush forest and colourful rocks. This is a great place to take some photos and relax before heading down the road to Florence Falls. Florence Falls is a series of waterfalls that cut through the lush jungle and come to a stunning crescendo in a beautiful plunge pool. Litchfield National Park is also a haven for thousands of species of wildlife, so keep your eyes peeled, you never know what you might spot!
At the end of the day, head back to Darwin for a sunset with fresh prawns and bubbles to enjoy.
