Where we visit
Day 1
Get picked up between 6am and 11am (depending on your departure location), then head north towards Fraser Island. You will be travelling via 4WD (tides permitting) on Noosa North Shore and Double Island Point, past the coloured sands of Rainbow Beach and onwards to Fraser Island.
Stop for an early lunch, take some time to relax, visit the beach, have a swim or wander through some local shops. Next, 4WD along tracks to Inskip Point beach and Fraser Island lookout before boarding the ferry to the island.
All ferry tickets and national park fees are pre-arranged to save time. As you cruise across the strait, get your camera ready for snaps of Tin Can Bay and Hervey Bay while keeping your eyes peeled for dolphins, turtles, dugongs, sharks, eagles, sea birds, fish and more!
Once you arrive at Fraser Island, the first stop will be the area's world heritage National Park. Then, it's time to 4WD around the island's 75 Mile Surf Beach, passing up to eight freshwater creeks, while your local guide provides information and stories about the area. If you're lucky, you might spot dingoes, kangaroos and whales (in season). Your guide will lead you to Lake Wabby walking track, which is a famous, Eucalyptus-lined track that surrounds a deep, emerald green lake. You will have time to look for turtles, build sand castles, discover sand dunes or just relax.
You will then head to your campsite at Dilli beach, travelling through the melaleuca and cycad forests on the way. Enjoy a hot shower or swim in the beautiful fresh waters of Govi Creek before indulging in some drinks and a barbecue dinner that includes salad and garlic bread. After dinner, sip some hot drinks and roast marshmallows around the campfire.
Day 2
This morning, you will have some free time to enjoy the early sunrise and explore the surrounding area. Once you return, a continental breakfast of tea and coffee, pancakes, cereals, toast, fruit and condiments will be waiting for you. After eating, your guide will lead you down the 75 Mile Beach highway to the beautiful Eli Creek, which is the fastest flowing creek on the island.
After that, you will get to visit the Pinnacles, coloured sand cliffs that mark the eastern beach of Fraser Island. You will also see the Maheno Shipwreck and learn about how it came to rest on the island. Continue heading north along 75 Mile Beach for a swim in the naturally bubbly Champagne Pools and climb Indian Head lookout, where you will gain access to incredible views of the island. You may even spot some sharks, manta rays, turtles or whales while you're there.
You will return to camp before sunset with a bit of time to explore while your guides prepare dinner. Tonight, you will be eating fish alongside salad and garlic bread. After dinner, relax and stargaze as you sit around the campfire.
Day 3
On the final day of your tour, you will wake up, eat breakfast, then head to stunning Lake McKenzie. Feel free to swim, relax in the soft, white sand, or walk around the pristine lake. After your time in the sun, you will head to the cool, shady rainforest. You will be lead on a boardwalk along the crystal clear waters of Wanggoolba Creek, spotting freshwater eels, giant King Ferns and the unique world heritage Satinay Forest. After that, take a hike through the tropical forests of Central Station on the banks of Wanggoolba Creek to Pile Valley.
Around early afternoon, you and your tour group will head south, departing Fraser Island down to Cooloola National Park via the Bruce Highway. If you are getting dropped off in Brisbane, you will arrive at approximately 7pm. If ending in the Gold Coast, you will arrive around 8pm.
