What to Expect

Experience an amazing day visiting Richmond, Port Arthur Historic Site, Tasman National Park and many more Tasmanian gems.

Itinerary:

Our day starts at Richmond, Australia’s best-preserved colonial village. We will then leave Richmond and head southwards in the direction of the Tasman Peninsula to the Tasman National Park.

The Port Arthur Historic Site is the next stop on our list. We will join an interesting guided tour and take a cruise through the harbour. Learn all about the convict settlement amid the gaol ruins and get an impression of what life bust have been like for prisoners in Port Arthur.

Then it is time for us to go back to the city of Hobart. Along the way, we will have time to stop at the remarkable natural features of Tasman Arch, Devils Kitchen and the Blowhole.

Visit the historic village of Richmond and learn all about its captivating history. The village is situated in the heart of the Coal River Valley and used to be an important military staging post and convict station linking Hobart with Port Arthur. Richmond is famous for its elegant Georgian architecture, with its beautiful heritage buildings dating back as early as the 1820s and are now housing galleries, tea shops, craft boutiques and museums.

Pirates Bay is situated high on the hillsides, above the Tesselated Pavement. The Bay offers panoramic views of the east coast of Tasmania Peninsula and on a clear day, you can admire spectacular vistas Cape Hauy and Cape Pillar

The Port Arthur Historic Site is an ancient World Heritage-listed convict site situated on the Tasman Peninsula. It is one of the most evocative convict sites in Australia. The historic site accommodates over 30 buildings, restored period homes and ruins set in 40 hectares of landscaped grounds. Learn all about the convict settlement amid the gaol ruins and get an impression of what life bust have been like for prisoners in Port Arthur.

Devil's Kitchen is a natural feature that gets its name from the cauldron of foaming fury waves of the Great Southern Ocean, crashing into the base of the tall cliffs. This is a real treat for your eyes, so be sure to bring a camera to try and capture the magic!

The massive Tasman Arch is situated at about 100 metres from the lookout to Devils Kitchen. It resembles Devils Kitchen, but differs in its enormous bridge of solid rock. A combination of waves and wind has created this bridge over millions of years.

The Blowhole is another stunning natural feature created over millions of years by wind and waves erosion. Its rough and powerful waves will amaze you forcing their way through the small opening and smashing into the cauldron.
