This trip starts with a 4 pm welcome meeting at the Outback Hotel & Lodge in Yulara. The trip will then end in Alice Springs at the Stay at Alice Springs Hotel (formerly Aurora Alice Springs).

If you are flying into Alice Springs, you can opt to start your trip there with a pick-up at 'Stay at Alice Springs Hotel' at 8:30 am on the first day of the tour (no additional cost). Please let us know if you would like to take advantage of this option.

This tour caters to anyone who is travelling solo and wants to meet and share experiences with other like-minded people.

The rooms on this trip are organised on a twin-share basis. As a solo traveller, you’ll be paired up with another traveller of the same gender as per the gender marker on both of your passports. Optional single supplements are also available on this trip for solo travellers who would prefer to have their own private rooms.

Intrepid Travel strives to create a safe and inclusive environment for everyone. In the case that your gender identity differs from what is indicated on your passport, please contact us so we can discuss your rooming options with you.

Temperatures in Australia’s Red Centre can be extreme. The sun in this part of the country is strong year-round, so you will need to prepare properly with appropriate clothing and sun protection. During summer, the days can be very hot and during winter, the nights can be very cold.

This trip includes a few early mornings and some days of the trip will involve several hours of driving through very sparse areas of Australia. The days can be very long, but this ensures you can see and experience as much of this amazing location as possible in the short span of 6 days.

Moderate physical activities are included and a reasonable level of fitness is required. Please make sure you have read through the tour itinerary carefully to assess your ability to manage and enjoy this style of travel.

Australia requires all visitors entering from overseas to present a valid passport (with a minimum of 6 months validity) upon arrival.

Contact your local embassy or consulate for the most up-to-date visa requirements, or see your travel agent.

It is your own responsibility to have the correct travel documentation. Visa requirements for your trip will vary depending on where you are from and where you are going.

Travel insurance is compulsory on all our trips for those travelling internationally. At a minimum, your travel insurance must cover your medical expenses including emergency repatriation. We strongly recommend all travellers have insurance that also covers personal liability, cancellation, curtailment and loss of luggage or personal effects.

When it comes to working out how much money you’ll need on this trip, every traveller is a little different.

You know your spending habits better than we do, so we recommend budgeting an appropriate amount for things like meals, drinks, shopping, optional activities, and laundry. Please read the itinerary and inclusions thoroughly so you know what is included in the trip price and what you may need to pay for while travelling.

You’ll need to budget for some meals throughout the trip. You can generally get a good takeaway or restaurant meal for around 20-35 AUD, however, there are always more expensive options. Alcohol can be quite expensive in Australia due to additional taxes, with a schooner or glass of wine costing around 9-12 AUD on average.

Tipping is not compulsory in Australia, but if you want to show your appreciation for good service, it is welcomed. If you choose to tip, the general rule is to add 10-15% of the bill. As well as your spending money, we recommend having a contingency fund of at least 500 USD in case of emergency.

We recommend packing the following essential items for your trip:

  • A mix of lightweight and layered clothing
  • A change of smart clothes for dinner in larger cities
  • Comfortable, closed-in shoes for nature walks and hikes
  • A wide-brimmed hat, sunscreen (factor 50), and sunglasses
  • Your essential travel documents
  • An Australian travel adaptor for your electronics
  • A daypack/bag to use during the day
  • A money belt and a lock for your suitcase

You will be expected to carry your own luggage on this trip, so try to pack light. Most travellers find that a small, wheeled suitcase is the most suitable option for this adventure.

You can leave your luggage at the accommodation when you’re adventuring during the day, meaning the only thing you’ll need to bring with you on day trips is your day pack with your water bottle, camera, and any other essentials you may need.

You’ll be staying in twin-share rooms in comfortable hotels on most nights, with the exception of the air-conditioned bush tents on the third night of the tour. On some occasions, alternative arrangements may need to be made due to the lack of availability of rooms in our preferred accommodation. In these cases, you will be staying in a similar standard of accommodation.

You can join our waitlist and we will get in touch if your preferred dates become available, or if we can provide you with alternative/similar options!
