Its about time there was another public outcry over the shortage of access to the present iconic mountain. Its a part of us kiwi‚Äôs heritage, a part of who we are. We all loved to visit the place until 2002 when all us locals were banned from entry from two local maori tribes who claimed ownership and decided to shut the access off! This is such a shame.

Very enjoyable and relaxed experience during a magical spot. The guides were helpful and knowledgeable and made the hike gripping and fun

This hike is demanding, requiring A level of fitness but well well worth the experience. Forget about the helicopter , there&#x27;s a way of accomplishment and exhilaration and well earned fatigue from getting up close and private with the maunga

This unique experience allows visitors to travel to Mt Tarawera with Volcanic Air, taking in the scenic wonders of the area from the air, before landing on Mt Tarawera for your guided crater walk experience. This flight includes the stunning scenery of Lakes Okareka, Tarawera and Rotomahana, as well as being able to see on clear days to White Island and Mt Ruapehu. Once you have landed, you will be guided around the crater of Mt Tarawera by Kaitiaki Adventures, before being driven back to Rotorua.
