The trip begins in Bangkok and finishes in Chiang Mai.

You will need to fly into Suvarnabhumi (BKK) which is the main international airport or alternatively we can also collect you from Don Muang (DMK).

On Day 14, the closest airport is Chiang Mai international airport (CNX). Alternatively, you can get an overnight train for around £15-20 from Chiang Mai back to Bangkok. Please be aware this can be quite a long journey so you may wish to fly back to Bangkok. You could expect to pay around £60-80 for a flight so it is more expensive but much more time efficient.

The beauty of this group style of travel is that it caters to travellers who are travelling solo and who want to meet and share experiences with like-minded people.

Rooming is organised on a twin-share basis. Solo travellers will be paired with another traveller of the same gender.

There is also an optional single supplement available on most trips for travellers who prefer to have their own room.

Absolutely!

This trip includes some long drives on winding roads. If you experience severe motion sickness, this trip may not be suitable for you.

Some of the best scenery on this trip will be found on hikes. So, while this trip doesn't require a high level of fitness, it's essential to be at least moderately fit if you want to partake in all activities. Please ensure you bring sturdy walking shoes and comfortable clothes.

All countries require a valid passport (with a minimum 6 months validity).

Contact your local embassy or consulate for the most up-to-date visa requirements, or see your travel agent.

It is your own responsibility to have the correct travel documentation. Visa requirements for your trip will vary depending on where you are from and where you are going.

Yes, travel insurance is compulsory on this trip.

Every traveller is different and therefore spending money requirements will vary. Some travellers may drink more than others while other travellers like to purchase more souvenirs than most. Please consider your own spending habits when it comes to allowing for drinks, shopping and tipping. Please also remember the following specific recommendations when planning your trip.

You can have a plate of food for a street vendor for AU$2-$5, however there are always more expensive options. From a mid-range, sit-down restaurant, expect to pay AU$5-$15 - not including alcohol.

Below are some essential items for this trip. Please ensure you pack appropriately for the weather at the time of year you are travelling.

  • Lightweight clothing. You will need to bring a mixture of lightweight clothing and layers. Long shirts and pants are useful to protect against the harsh Australian sun. Clothes should be easy to wash and dry. Maybe bring a change of smart clothes for dinner in larger cities. Australia is pretty casual; shorts or a skirt and a top, with sandals, is our usual warm-weather wardrobe.
  • Comfortable, closed-in shoes. These will help protect your feet from cuts and scratches when walking through bush/grasslands and act as a protective barrier in the rare case of a bite or sting. A pair of sandals or thongs/flip-flops are great for the beach.
  • Sun protection – a wide-brimmed hat, sunscreen, and sunglasses.
  • Try to avoid bringing unnecessary valuables and use your hotel safe. It’s also a good idea to purchase a money belt or pouch that is easily hidden. We strongly recommend that you photocopy all important documents, e.g. air tickets, passport, vaccination certificate, etc. and keep the copies separate from the originals. While not valid, a photocopy makes it much easier to obtain replacements if necessary.

Due to limited vehicle space and strictly enforced road laws regarding weight limits, your main piece of luggage must be soft-sided and weigh no more than 15kg/33lb. You can also bring a day pack/bag to carry water, camera, sunscreen, etc when you’re exploring during the day.

Bangkok

We start our Northern Thailand Adventure in Bangkok!! This hotel is located right next to the famous Khao San Road, so it's right in the centre of all the fun. It's in the perfect location for our night out on day 2 (and day 1 if you're feelin' it!) This hotel is also the perfect place to relax after your long journey or to nurse a hangover with a dip in the pool. If you like to get stuck in and explore, tourist sights like The Grand Palace are sooo close.

Kanchanaburi

Our next stop is Kanchanaburi. This hotel is in a peaceful location next to the River Kwai and is nestled in a tropical garden, really escaping the city vibes of Bangkok. With a pool and a great bar and restaurant area overlooking the water, you won't want to leave!

The accommodation for this trip is all twin share private rooms. For our TruExclusive - village home stay this will be a shared dorm room.

While travelling with us you'll experience the vast array of wonderful food available in the world. Your group leader will be able to suggest restaurants to try during your trip.

If you have dietary requirements and/or food allergies, please let The Operator know at the time of booking or prior to departure.
