What to Expect

Perth is the ultimate destination to kick start your working holiday or backpacking adventure in Western Australia.

From vibrant cities that blend the old and new to idyllic island playgrounds, your arrival week will showcase the best this city offers. Jam-packed with social activities, you'll experience a Perth Gap Year Adventure with a group of new mates and a fun group leader.

Plus, your guide arranges everything you need to start work in Australia and settle into life Down Under with ease, including helping open your bank account, tax setup and assisting with your job search.

Day 1 – Perth

Welcome to Perth – the city of light and the capital of Western Australia! Check in to your new home before meeting your legendary group leaders and the rest of your group at 4:00 pm. They'll introduce you to the office crew, give you a brief overview of what's going to happen for the week and start preparing you for your time in Australia.

Then, the evening involves a group Welcome Dinner and a visit to the lively Northbridge – popular small bars, modern art galleries, Asian eateries, stylish cocktail lounges and casual backpacker bars!

Day 2 – Perth

After a good night's sleep, join a comprehensive info session where the team will explain everything you need to know about working and travelling around Australia. Everyone is an experienced traveller, and most have started where you are now. They'll support you in anything you need to set up to live in Australia & answer every question you may have.

The rest of the day is then spent exploring Perth City by foot. You'll pass through Kings Park and all the city sights to learn about the history, architecture, art and nightlife the city offers. The afternoon finishes with the ultimate adventure experience climbing up the Matagarup Bridge, followed by a 400m zip-line over the Swan River (Derbarl Yerrigan).

Day 3 – Dunsborough

Today you'll head to Perth Basecamp located in Dunsborough – a region of breathtaking bays, crystalline turquoise water, granite boulder stacks and leafy canopies. Tonight is spent watching the sunset over a BBQ dinner from your beachfront accommodation.

Day 4 – Busselton & Margaret River

Visiting the world-renowned Margaret River region is a bucket list experience. It boasts sheltered bays to the north with turquoise waters, vineyards and rugged surf coast along its length and two oceans meeting at the southern tip.

Today is spent exploring the very best with visits to BusseltonJetty, Canal Rocks, Surfers Point Lookout, the MargaretRiver Township and more!

Day 5 – Fremantle

Depart Basecamp and make your way back to Fremantle – a port city in Western Australia known for its maritime history, Victorian architecture and remnants from Australia's days as a British penal colony.

The next couple of nights are spent experiencing a unique and historical stay at the former Fremantle Prison. Built in the 1850's it's the only accommodation in Western Australia with UNESCO World Heritage status!

Day 6 – Rottnest Island

This morning, jump onto a ferry to visit Rottnest Island! Blessed with picturesque scenery, dazzling marine life and some of the world's finest beaches and pristine bays, you will cycle around the island, exploring the white-sand beaches and secluded coves. A protected nature reserve, Rottnest Island is also home to the quokka, a small wallaby-like marsupial who might be up for a selfie!

Tonight you'll make your way back to Fremantle for a final night celebrating your first week in Australia and toasting to your year to come.

Day 7 – Fremantle

Today is a free day to continue exploring Fremantle and prepare for your time in Western Australia. By the end of the first week, you're well and truly part of the family!
